James Tucker (Of Counsel-Phoenix | Las Vegas) and Patty Ferguson-Bohnee, attorneys who are active members of organizations that uphold the rights of Native Americans, have collaborated on "Voting During a Pandemic: Vote-by-Mail Challenges for Native Voters," which appears in the July/August 2020 edition of Arizona Attorney. The two describe the difficulties that vote-by-mail presents for these often disenfranchised voters. Specifically, "members of the 574 federally recognized tribes" face barriers to political participation to a greater degree than any other racial or ethnic group. The authors also define measures that can be taken to level the field, all while respecting social distancing.
