Nancy Yaffe was quoted in the Los Angeles Business Journal article, "Blogging a Case of Advertising?" Full text can be found in the April 27, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.

The California State Bar is suggesting regulators more carefully scrutinize attorneys' blogs to ensure compliance with advertising rules.

Labor and employment attorneys in California said they face challenges in keeping clients up to date on the state's evolving regulations, which is why Nancy Yaffe said she opts to post brief blog posts rather than flood clients' inboxes each time a potential legal issue arises.

"A lot of clients look at my blog," said Yaffe. "You also kind of use the blog to keep in touch with them and let them know about new legal issues. A blog is a great way to do it because you can't always send an email to everybody."

Yaffe has no plans to stop contributing to her blog at Fox Rothschild, noting that at the very least, it keeps her from having to send a flurry of emails to clients when a potential issue arises.

"I've tried that. It's exhausting, honestly, and it's not that effective either," she said. "You just kind of inundate them."

According to Yaffe, her blog has also served as one of the best advertisements for her services.

"People get a sense for what kind of lawyer I will be," she said. "The blog is a good way to market to people and an easy way to connect with people."
