This is the 34th in a series of Workcite articles concerning the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and its companion statute, the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 (referred to collectively as the Act).

Beginning in 2014, the Act will require certain employers to pay penalties if they do not offer health plan coverage to substantially all of their full-time employees. The penalty structure is commonly referred to as "play or pay" (POP). We have prepared some FAQs to guide employers through the POP requirements. The FAQs can be accessed here.
