Scrutiny of cyber risks within health care organizations by underwriters is expected to intensify as the result of the massive data breach suffered by Anthem Inc.
There are questions surrounding whether Anthem "did what they needed to do" in encrypting personally identifiable information, said Scott L. Vernick, a noted privacy attorney.
According to reports, the company encrypted data when it was in transit, but not data sitting on its servers, which is where the attack occurred.
