Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance partner Dan Bartfeld and Capital Markets partner Marcelo Mottesi—co-heads of the Latin America practice—as well as Corporate/M&A partner Francisco Nuñez participated in a Q&A for the Vault Law blog, discussing the complexities of cross-border practice and the intricacies of working in the Latin America region.

Describing how client contact and international travel are key components of this type of career, Mr. Nuñez and Mr. Mottesi also highlight the impact of their work, including the rewards of seeing growth in the region’s local economies and of watching infrastructure projects come to fruition. The scope of this work, they point out, is part of what makes this career path unique for young lawyers at Milbank. Also unique to the Latin America practice at Milbank, says Mr. Bartfeld, is the group’s secret to success: teamwork. “We all hunt for clients and interesting transactions as a group. We share introductions. We identify opportunities, and whomever is best placed to pursue them is encouraged to do it. And that’s a huge part of our culture here and it’s really different than, I think, any other firm that I’m aware of.”
