On December 12, 2019, we were honored to host Ambassador R. Nicholas Burns, senior counselor at The Cohen Group and former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs and US ambassador to NATO and Greece, at an intimate breakfast for clients and friends. Ambassador Burns discussed the global battle against BigTech and the divide between Washington and Silicon Valley. On December 19, 2019, we partnered with Clarity Capital KCPS and Eisner Amper to purchase, wrap and deliver holiday gifts to children who are being treated by Save a Child’s Heart, as well as to their caregivers. Save a Child’s Heart is an Israeli-based international humanitarian project whose mission is to improve the quality of pediatric cardiac care for children from developing countries who suffer from heart disease. We also had the opportunity to visit the Save a Child’s Heart children’s home to deliver the gifts in person to some of the patients and their mothers. On January 21, 2020, Andrew Dyson and Robyn Palmer from our UK Privacy team led our second privacy and data protection training session for local general counsels. The interactive workshop provided attendees the opportunity to learn more about the practicalities of maintaining an effective privacy office under GDPR and CCPA, and included discussions on key risk areas, regulatory enforcement trends, emerging breach claims, the impact of the Schrems II case, Brexit and more.
