Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) has named Gowling WLG the Canadian "Firm of the Year – Trademark Prosecution" at the MIP Americas Awards 2024.

MIP also awarded the firm's Intellectual Property Group with the Canadian "Impact Case of the Year" accolade for dTechs EPM Ltd. v. British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority.

On April 25, Vancouver partner and head of Gowling WLG's Trademarks Group Nelson Godfrey, who was nominated for Canadian "Patent Disputes Practitioner of the Year," and Toronto partner Selena Kim attended the ceremony in New York City to accept the awards on behalf of the firm.

Gowling WLG was shortlisted as Canadian "Firm of the Year" in an additional five categories, including Copyright, Patent Prosecution, Patent Disputes, Trademark Disputes and IP Transactions. In addition, Toronto partner and co-head of the global IP Group Shelagh Carnegie was nominated for Canadian "Trademark Prosecution Practitioner of the Year."

MIP's recognition of the firm follows a string of recent successes for Gowling WLG's global IP team. Earlier this month, Gowling WLG was named the UK "Design Firm of the Year" and UAE "Trademark Firm of the Year" at the MIP EMEA Awards 2024.

Presented annually, the MIP Americas Awards distinguish the leading IP firms and practitioners across North and South America. MIP has published the full list of winners on its website.
