Marta de Cara has joined the Firm as counsel in the Global Disputes Practice, based in the Madrid Office.

Ms. de Cara has 12 years of experience advising corporations and financial institutions on a wide range of arbitration and litigation matters in the fields of civil, corporate, and insolvency law, with a particular focus on directors' liability, indemnities, and breach-of-contract matters. She has extensive experience dealing with nonperforming loan (NPL) portfolios and has represented clients in several criminal proceedings before theSpanish criminal courts, primarily related to intellectual property rights and white-collar crimes.

"Marta has broad experience in cross-border litigation and international arbitration proceedings, including international investment arbitration before the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes, commercial arbitration, and ad hoc arbitration proceedings," said Sion Richards, who leads the Global Disputes Practice. "This experience strengthens our capabilities to serve our clients who are facing complex commercial disputes around the world."

At Jones Day, Ms. de Cara joins a team of more than 200 lawyers in the Global Disputes Practice, who are located in more than 25 business centers worldwide. The practice serves clients in some of the most challenging jurisdictions around the world and in some of the highest-value disputes in those jurisdictions. Ms. de Cara will collaborate with her Global Disputes colleagues to help clients successfully resolve disputes wherever they arise, whether through litigation, arbitration, or some combination of the two.

Ms. de Cara is a member of the Bar Association of Madrid, the Spanish Arbitration Club and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She earned a master's degree in Law at the IE Law School and a degree in Law and Business from Granada University.
