Butler Snow attorney Bradish “Brad” J. Waring was recently promoted to Knight 1st Class of the Order of Dannebrog, by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Waring has served as the Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Denmark for North and South Carolina for the past 16 years and was initially knighted in 2016. The promotion took effect as of January 1, 2024 and was made by the Queen prior to her recent abdication on January 14, 2024 when she turned over the throne to her son, now King Frederik IX. Instituted in 1671, the Order of the Dannebrog is a Danish order of chivalry and is awarded as a means of honoring individuals for meritorious civil service and contributions to Danish interests. The Order will be formally presented to Waring by Danish Ambassador Jesper Sorensen at the Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. on March 15, 2024.

He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Judicial Council, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Southeast Admiralty Law Institute, the Defense Research Institute (DRI), and the Litigation Counsel of America Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute. Waring has been previously reappointed to the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Chief Justice’s Commission on The Profession.
