The National Center of Energy Control ("CENACE" for its acronym in Spanish) has recently announced its intention to release the bidding guidelines for the fourth wholesale electric market auction by March 28, 2018.

Pursuant to the latest information released by CENACE and the Energy Ministry ("SENER") the fourth wholesale electric auction has as main purpose to sign long-term contracts of between 15 – 20 years to purchase energy, power and clean energy certificates.

The estimated calendar for the development of the auction is:

It is worth mentioning that, as of March 2018, three electric auctions have been carried out by CENACE with a successful result for Mexico, which represent the development of 70 power plants awarded to 42 companies with investments of approximately USD $9.0 billion.

Projects related to the first, second and third electric auctions will be located within 19 States of Mexico
