In the early morning of August 5, 2014, the Senate approved the resolutions earlier passed by the House of Representatives on secondary energy laws.

The approved resolutions suffered minor changes from those sent on April 30, 2014 by the President to Congress.

These changes are mainly focused on the use and occupation of the land surface, as well as inside management of both PEMEX and CFE.

These resolutions and those that remained unchanged, which together comprise the Energy Reform, were referred to the President for publication in the Official Gazette.

Once the Energy Reform is published, deadlines run in each of the laws for the issuance of regulations to the laws and the creation of new regulatory entities that comprise the new framework for the energy sector in Mexico.
