The Isle of Man met with key decision makers from the online gaming industry at the European iGaming Expo (EiG) in Copenhagen.
As a leading event for the industry, EiG offered the Isle of Man a prime opportunity to showcase the benefits of being licensed on the Island to an audience of over 1500 people, including CEOs from international gaming companies.
Discussions were held with over 60 new contacts from companies interested in relocating to the Island.
Alex Downie MLC, Department of Economic Development member representing e-Gaming, Isle of Man Government comments: "The growth of the sector, particularly over the last 12 months is testament to the Island's ongoing commitment to supporting a quality e-Gaming sector which adheres to the highest regulations. The Isle of Man's presence at EiG is important not only with regard to demonstrating our diverse economy, but also the Island's international standing as a flexible and responsible jurisdiction."
Visitors to the Isle of Man's stand were able to meet with 13 private sector companies to discuss various elements of the online gaming business including legal, financial, software and corporate services. Representatives from the Isle of Man Government and Gambling Supervision Commission were also present to discuss the benefits of relocating to the Isle of Man.
Garth Kimber, Head of e-Gaming Development, Isle of Man Government's Department of Economic Development adds: "The Isle of Man's presence at EiG is key to our annual marketing effort and in positioning the Island as a premier jurisdiction. Events such as these provide us with the opportunity to articulate the benefits of relocating to the Isle of Man face to face, and prove to be an invaluable tool in winning new business. The mood is sombre in Europe due to the fast changing regulatory landscape and this was reflected at the conference. Despite this we were able to have serious conversations with a significant number of businesses who are interested in the Island and what we have to offer."
Garth Kimber, Head of e-Gaming Development, Isle of Man Government's Department of Economic Development commented: "I am delighted that we have received such great support from the employers for this training. Lisa Underwood (e-Gaming Development Manager) has used her own experience in training and input from the industry to ensure that the Department of Economic Development and Hamblin can offer a fantastic opportunity to understand and learn the skills that some of the fastest growing businesses on the Island are keen to find."
