Yash Raj Films ("YRF") has been accused of illegally collecting royalties for music owned by Indian Performing Rights Society ("IPRS") members. The IPRS has filed an FIR with the Economic Offences Wing ("EOW") against YRF directors Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra and alleges that they are responsible for pressuring artists into "dubious" contracts through which they are collecting the royalties payable belong to the singers, lyricists, musicians and music producers, i.e. members of IPRS. After the filing of this FIR, music composers Salim-Suleiman accused YRF of not being paid royalties to the composers for the last 4 years despite having collected them.
