On 27.07.2012 President of Ukraine signed the law adopted by Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 04.07.2012 # 5036-VI "On Amendments to the Basic Law of Ukraine on Health regarding the establishment of restrictions on the implementation of the directors and employees of health care and pharmaceutical (pharmacy) institutions of professional activity" (on the basis of draft bill #10560). The document entered into force on the August 1st, 2012.

According to this document it shall be prohibited for medical and pharmaceutical workers while carrying out their professional activities:

1. to receive improper advantage from business entities engaged in the production and/or sale of drugs, medical devices, as well as their representatives

2. to receive samples of medicines, medical devices for use in professional activities from business entities engaged in the production and/or sale of drugs or their representatives (except in cases related to the conduct of clinical trials of drugs or clinical trials of medical devices in accordance with the treaties);

3. advertise drugs, medical products, including prescribing medicines on forms that contain advertising information, and specify the manufacturers of medicinal products (brands);

4. at the request of the consumer while selling the medicine product not to offer or provide false information on the availability of the medicine product with the same active agent (with the international unlicensed name), dosage and form, in particular, to conceal information about the availability of such drugs at lower price.
