Significant progress for Guernsey in South Africa's pensions, private wealth and funds sectors will be highlighted at Guernsey Finance's BD Update event on Thursday 24 October.

By the time of the event, the promotional agency will have led two roadshows to South Africa in autumn 2019, promoting private wealth, pensions and funds.

There will also be an overview on progress made around the world by Guernsey Finance's Business Development team, with China Representative Wendy Weng, Asia Pacific Representative Dorothy Kwok and London Representative Christine Gill all providing individual updates.

Guernsey Finance International Business Development Director James Crawford, who will also be speaking, said the team had covered key markets for Guernsey during the year.

"Our BD team has helped open up avenues for new business for Guernsey and we are looking forward to updating our stakeholders about what we have been doing," he said. "We are also putting together roadshows in New York, Asia and the Middle East before the end of the year and already have strong delegations lined up for those. We will also provide information on our new Dubai Representative Louise Bougourd and the work she will be doing in that region."

Attendees at the Old Government House Hotel will also hear from two guest speakers – Tim Li, founder of insurance broker China Huaxia, and Florence Lam, Senior Vice President RMB Internationalisation, Group Strategy, HSBC Bank – the event sponsor. China Huaxia is a client of Guernsey insurance manager ARM, in the process of setting up a PCC with a cell covering tourist liability. This business originated from a joint venture established between Beijing Airport Captive Management and ARM in 2017. Mr Li will talk about the potential opportunities for captive business in China.

Guernsey Finance's BD Representatives will be in the island from 21-25 October. If you would like to meet with any of them, please contact James.
