"Nowhere matches Guernsey's unique combination of expertise, experience, market proximity, and regulatory environment as a home for your captive," he said. "The market is more and more appreciative of our whitelisted status as a jurisdiction of substance, our proportionate regulatory standards and our market expertise, meaning the captive sector is going from strength to strength."

Three practitioners from Guernsey's finance industry have also been named as finalists.

Walkers Partner Kate Storey is one of six shortlisted for the Captive Service Professional of the Year category, and is the only lawyer nominated in her section.

"I am very pleased to have been included in the final shortlist for this prestigious award," she said. "Our insurance practice in Guernsey is going from strength to strength and is complemented by Walkers' global reach."

Mr Stewart said: "I believe that my nomination is testament to Willis Towers Watson's truly holistic approach to insurance management and our ethos of client engagement, as well as the Guernsey operation's commitment to ongoing professional and personal development and our collaborative, knowledge-sharing, team-based approach.

"I work in a fantastic industry, with some great clients who continually offer us interesting and challenging opportunities to learn, develop and grow."
