Guernsey insurance consultant Callum Beaton has been elected to the board of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), the leading global professional body for the insurance and financial planning sectors.

During his career in the insurance profession Mr Beaton, who is a Fellow of the CII, has specialised in the captive and cell captive advisory fields in recent years, having previously held senior positions in Guernsey's captive management sector. As well as his advisory work, he has written and lectured extensively and has been a recipient of the CII's two premier academic awards.

Mr Beaton was the President of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey from 2012 to 2014 and he currently serves on two education committees of the CII, as well as its Representative Council from which he has been elected to serve on the Board.

Mr Beaton said: "I am both honoured and delighted to be elected to the position by my peer group and look forward to playing an active part in the ongoing development of the Institute."

The Chartered Insurance Institute is a not-for-profit organisation which seeks to promote high standards of integrity, technical competence and business capability in all areas of the insurance business.

With 125,000 members in 150 countries, the CII is the world's largest professional body dedicated to these sectors. Membership covers all disciplines within the insurance profession including claims, broking, underwriting and sales, as well as catering for those working in the life and pensions sector, the mortgage advice market and financial advisers.
