What led you to where you are currently?

My failures...

I know it may sound weird but it's my failures that taught me the humility needed to succeed despite any curve balls that life threw at me. Coming from a conservative environment, my biggest accomplishment was the ability to make my own decisions. It did not matter whether they were right decisions or wrong decisions but they were my decisions. And through the failures of those wrong decisions, I learned some important lessons. The lessons to never give up, redefining my priorities when required, identifying the importance of my values, compassion in my decision making and perseverance shaped my personal as well as professional life and led me to wherever I am today. Today, I would never undo my failures, I would never unwind the clock and do it all over again.

Have you had any key mentors?

I have benefited from some great mentors and coaches who invested their time and energy to help me widen my horizons and pursue avenues that I would not have otherwise chosen. However, one of my key mentors is my mother. She has challenged me out of my comfort zone at every step, cheered me to boost my confidence so that my performance had no boundaries and supported me through every milestone of my life. She has always been a strong pillar of support for me.

What is your favorite past time?

I like to create – new flavors, new ingredients and the old favorites. I love to feed people. You can experience the world through food.

Any life defining moments you would like to share?

When I got an opportunity to work in Hong Kong for six months, I realized the enormity of the world outside India. The thrill of it all, exposure to the diverse culture and the enriching experience of working in an international environment gave me the inspiration and courage to pack my bags and move to Canada for good.

Why do you love what you do?

I don't love what I do but rather I do what I love. As a professional services consultant, my work is about collaboration with others – both within my firm and outside. The key factor to success in my field is strong interpersonal skills. I enjoy every aspect of working in a team environment, building relationships, sharing and collaborating and facilitating personal growth and development. This makes my work both appealing as well as fulfilling in every respect.
