Are You Under-Valuing Your Legal Department?
The legal department must have solid performance data if it is to be properly managed and if it is to reach its full potential. Key performance indicators (KPIs) should capture and communicate the developmental and strategic contributions of the legal department – and do so in a measureable fashion. This session will present 7 basic KPIs with examples of initiatives and targets for each. The KPIs are: strategic/operational, complexity, effectiveness, efficiency, competencies, user satisfaction and costs. Case studies and discussion will examine:
- The roles of the GC and department members in developing the legal department
- Moving beyond managing risk to helping business get done
- Changing the company`s expectations for the legal department
- Using performance data to leverage change
- How to get the basics in place within 90 days
- Communicating the value of the legal department
