Almost every video game publisher, developer and service provider in Canada will be affected by Canada's new anti-spam legislation and should have a plan for complying with it.

Ignoring the legislation could be costly:  the maximum penalty for a violation is $1,000,000 for an individual and $10,000,000 for a business.  Also, directors or officers of a game company may be personally liable for their company's violations.

The legislation has been passsed into law but it is not currently in effect.  That gives game companies a window of opportunity to start preparing now.
