Rimon Partner Buz Barclay chaired the twelfth edition of the Infocast Projects & Money Summit on January 14-16 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Buz was the original founder of this conference of the U.S. competitive power project industry, when he first brought this vital industry's annual kickoff back to New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina interrupted more than two decades of conferences there. He has chaired it since its inception. Over 420 investors, financiers, project developers, educators, public policy experts, and attorneys attended, hearing more than 60 industry leaders review the events of the last year and discuss critical issues, trends, and opportunities facing the industry in 15 panels appearing over two days. Among his other roles in the Summit, Buz presented his annual Projects & Money Zeitgeist, an interactive poll of the participants on their forecasts of events and trends in the current business cycle. This year's participants were more optimistic than in the January 2019 Zeitgeist, overwhelmingly rejecting the potential for a recession in 2020, predicting robust growth in renewable energy, and encouraging new college graduates to pursue careers in law, finance and renewable energy, a starkly more upbeat advisory than last year's vote encouraging them to pursue coding or the theatre.
