Our partner, Alejandro Cofiño, was recently appointed as the IBA (International Bar Association) Young Lawyers Committee National Representative for Guatemala. Alejandro has participated closely in the events of the IBA and since this year in the YLC. The main function as a representative is to be the point of contact between the IBA and young lawyers and to act as a mentor to the YLC members in various topics, such as career development and training.

The YLC was born in 2004 when the IBA decided to make an effort to attract young lawyers to the association and involve them in its committees, groups and initiatives. Therefore, the YLC was created to focus on young colleagues and their specific interests, which will serve as an entry to get in touch with the rest of the IBA divisions. The main objective of the committee's activities is to create a win-win situation in which young lawyers can improve their skills and network through the IBA programs, conferences and other projects, and at the same time provide the IBA with its fresh ideas and contacts for the next generation of young lawyers.

Congratulations to Alejandro for his appointment. We are sure it will be beneficial for the next generation of young lawyers.
