With the AFL season coming to a close it brings to an end what has been another amazing season of the MSA Footy Tipping competition. This year we had 29 tippers join the competition with a total prize pool of $900 up for grabs.
We had 22 tippers share in the winnings this year; meaning there was only 7 unlucky contestants not to claim any prizes during the season. It has been one of the closest AFL seasons in years. This has made it a particular tough season for footy tippers, with upset wins almost every round.
This has been evident by the fact that within our competition there has only been 24 Whoppers given away for the perfect round of tipping. It is also reflected in the total of all tippers aggregate margins, on average tippers margins were around 200 points higher than the previous year.
It was once again a tightly fought contest this year and going into the last round everyone inside the top 10 still had a chance at a podium finish. In the end there were only 5 tips separating 2nd to 10th and 1 tip separating 2nd from 4th.
Winner of the Friday Night Specialist Award for 2015:
Place | End of season prize | Tipper | Total Margin |
1st | $100 | Butcher | 736 |
The FNS award has been an interesting competition this year and with a number of upsets and large margins on Friday night games it has made for some tough competition and tipping. This year's winning margin was 194 points higher than last year's which is an indication as to how many upsets and big margin results that occurred.
As for our winner this year, he dominated the competition finishing 40 points in front of the next competitor. Butcher moved into the top 5 in round 12 and then to the top of the competition with 3 rounds to go and that is where he stayed.
The Overall Winners of the 2015 Competition are:
In Third Place:
Place | End of season prize | Tipper | Tips | Margin |
3rd | $50 | Sambalam | 158 | 891 |
It was a close finish for 3rd place with Sambalam only moving into 3rd place in the final round of the season. Rick Basheer was the unlucky tipper to fall out of the top 3 out the final round.
Sambalam had an interesting year, he won the most number of rounds during the season but also dropped as low as 25th in round 7. Sambalam who finished second last year, once again timed his run to the finish to near perfection. Only reaching the top 3 in the final round.
In Second Place:
Place | End of season prize | Tipper | Tips | Margin |
2nd | $135 | Malcolm Abbott | 158 | 807 |
Malcolm had a consistent year which saw him spend a majority of the season in the top 10. Overall he spent 13 of the 23 rounds inside the top 5.
Malcolm spent the last 5 weeks in second place and despite Sambalam's fast finish to the season, Malcolm was able to hold on to that second place, even if it was only by his margin.
In first Place & overall winner of the competition:
Place | End of season prize | Tipper | Tips | Margin |
1st | $300 | Heath Visser | 160 | 803 |

Bad luck to those who finished just outside the prizes. A special hard luck mention goes to Kimberley. She was the only tipper who stayed within the top 10 for the entire season. Despite her consistent season she was never able to manage a round win, leaving this year's competition empty handed
Congratulations to all of our winners throughout the year.
We would like to thank everyone for being part of the competition this year and hope to see you all back in 2016 for a bigger and better year.
