Dubai: Residents who need to consult with a lawyer on any legal matter but have no means to do so may take advantage of a free legal clinic on December 17 at the Dubai Land Department.

BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem and Associates, one of the leading regional law firms in the Middle East, is holding the legal clinic for the public in collaboration with the Dubai Land Department on December 17, from 8am to 2pm.

A total of 25 qualified lawyers specialising in different legal areas will be on hand to answer queries and provide consultation on a one-on-one basis. Each lawyer will dedicate six hours, totalling 150 hours legal time offered free of cost, as part of BSA's contribution to the Year of Giving.

Dr Ahmad Bin Hezeem, senior partner at BSA, said BSA has achieved great success during the past 17 years and would therefore like to give back to the community by volunteering their time and expertise.

He said the initiative addresses a core need of many residents: having access to a lawyer at no cost.

"It's very essential for us as a prominent law firm in this country to be part of a national campaign, which was initiated by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. We want to make ourselves available to the ordinary people, to provide them with free legal services and answer their queries," Dr Bin Hezeem told Gulf News.

"This legal clinic is very special because it is directly connected with what we do. We do sponsor events and support charities in this country, but holding a legal clinic [is more apt] as it is directly linked to what we do as a law firm," he added.

Dr Bin Hezeem said 25 of the firm's 110 lawyers were nominated from each department with various specialities relating to real estate, construction, companies, VAT (Value Added Tax), labour cases, family cases, and personal matters.

Dr Bin Hezeem, who has over 24 years' experience working in legal and judicial governmental institutions in Dubai, will also be present to address queries. His litigation experience is expansive covering civil law, criminal law, family and private clients, and breach of contracts.

Providing such service at a stretch of 150 hours is equivalent to around half a million dirhams. But the lawyers will do it for free.

Residents who wish to avail of the service may come and bring related documents. They will be entertained on a first come, first served basis.
