It's common among UAE residents to ask for a refund for the products and services that they feel were not good. This week in The National, I explained the different instances concerning refund policy such as refund for unsatisfied sessions from a personal trainer, a refund about the product purchase from an international online retailer and the stores that has no refund policy.

Before subscribing to any service provided by a personal trainer, there should be a set of standards that can be compare between the service agreed upon and the service received. If such service is not provided in a correct way, then the customer may ask for a full refund. However, such a matter is not easy to prove, as the matter is related to unwritten facts about the service and how it was provided.

Purchasing online products here in UAE are available for refund if the product purchased was discovered faulty or damaged. If also, the product supplied was on a different description than the one ordered. However, those products that are purchase outside the UAE online store are not subject to UAE consumer-protection laws.

In accordance with Article 5 of Law No 24 of 2006, refunds or exchange of products are an available remedy in the event of a faulty product or a product supplied with a different description. All stores are required to comply with the local UAE consumer-protection laws.
