The United Nations (UN) forecasts growth of 5.5% for Mozambique, being the economy that registers the fastest growth among the countries of Southern Africa.

According to the UN report on the World Economic Situation and Perspectives, published last January 2020, it is estimated that Mozambique will go from a growth of 1.5%, verified in 2019, to 5.5%, fundamentally due to the reconstruction efforts following the cyclones that occurred in 2019. This perspective is in line with what was already projected by the International Munition Fund in November last year.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) also forecasts a 5.8% GDP growth in Mozambique, boosted by gas discoveries, estimated at 180 billion cubic feet, off the Mozambican coast.
